Insurance Appraisal process is mandatory through some insurance policies to settle a disagreement over the value of loss/insurance claim. Appraisal may be used after a notice of intent to sue is filed with the State of Florida. The process includes the insurance company and the insured both selecting an appraiser and the two appraisers select an umpire. If the two appraisers cannot come to an agreement on the scope and amount, the umpire will then make the final determination. The insured and insurer split the cost of the umpire and each pay their own appraiser. Attorney Ashby Underhill is a certified appraiser.
