Insurance Appraisal

Coquina Law group represents policyholders through insurance appraisal process. Ashby Underhill is a Wind certified insuarnce appraiser and umpire. Insurance Appraisal process is mandatory through some insurance policies to settle a disagreement over the value of loss/insurance claim. Additional, Florida Law allows insurance companies to demand appraisal in response to a Notice of Intent to Litigate. Appraisal may be used after a notice of intent to sue is filed with the State of Florida.

Insurance Appraisal includes the insurance company (insurer) and the policy holder (insured) both selecting an appraiser each and the two appraisers select an umpire. If the two appraisers cannot come to an agreement on the scope and amount of the loss, the umpire will then make the final determination. The insured and insurer split the cost of the umpire and each pay their own appraiser.

We have a network of appraisers that we can retain to serve as the insured’s appraiser. We monintor the appraisal process to make sure everyone has all the information they need, insure the process is done timely, and that the insurance company properly pays the appraisal award.
